After Hours in the East Mountains
It's late, the house is locked, and the places you'd normally call are closed until morning. Roadrunner Lock and Key takes calls 24/7. Call (505) 347-2895, tell us where you are in Cedar Crest and what's locked, and we'll quote the price before we drive up. You also get an honest arrival time, because at night the trip up I-40 can run longer than the map says.
Weather is part of that answer. When the roads over the mountain are snowy or icy, we tell you so on the phone and give you our best honest read, so you can decide whether to wait for us or make another plan.
If you can, sit tight somewhere warm while you wait. Our post on what to do when you are locked out of your house at night covers the rest.

Call (505) 347-2895How Far Is Cedar Crest From Our Shop?
Cedar Crest is an unincorporated community in Bernalillo County, at the eastern base of the Sandia Mountains, with the village of Tijeras to the south. Our shop at 3803 3rd St NW in Albuquerque is about 19 miles from Cedar Crest, roughly 25 minutes by car with no traffic. Call (505) 347-2895 and we will give you a real arrival time.
It's a small place, 933 people at the 2020 Census, spread over about 3.1 square miles at nearly 6,800 feet. It sits outside Albuquerque's city limits, though Cedar Crest students are zoned to Albuquerque Public Schools.
Locked Out of the Car on the Turquoise Trail
You pulled over on NM 14 to take in the view, shut the door, and the keys stayed inside. It's getting colder by the minute. NM 14 forms most of the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway, running about 54 miles from Tijeras north through Cedar Crest toward Santa Fe. Call (505) 347-2895 with the nearest junction or mile marker and your vehicle, and we'll quote the price first.
Junctions help us most. NM 14 meets NM 536, the road toward Sandia Peak, at San Antonito. The byway draws visitors in season too, and Tinkertown Museum on Sandia Crest Road is open Friday to Monday from April 3 to October 31 in 2026. If you are parked farther up NM 536 or well north of Cedar Crest, say so on the call and we will tell you straight whether we can reach you.
In a rental car? Check whether the rental company's roadside service covers lockouts. If it does not, or the wait they quote is long, call us. If you are cold or feel unsafe, get to a warm public place, or call 911. Before you call, see 5 ways to get back into your locked car fast and getting back in when you are locked out.
Rekeys and Deadbolts for Cedar Crest Homes
The median Cedar Crest home was built in 1986, per the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey. Many houses up here have likely changed hands over the years, and some may still run on their original locks. Rekeying changes the pins inside each lock so every unknown key out there stops working. Worn hardware gets replaced, and a weak back door can get a stronger deadbolt.
Plan it as one visit. Count your exterior doors, the garage entry and any door you want upgraded, and we will quote the whole job together before we schedule it. Not sure it is time? Read the signs you need to rekey your home locks, and compare high-security deadbolts vs. standard locks before you pick hardware.

Call (505) 347-2895Who Picks Up When You Call at Night
Late at night, the person on the phone should give you a business name, a street address you can look up, and a price before anyone drives to you. If they will not, hang up. That is the heart of the 505 Test from our car lockout scams guide.
